South Breitenbush Gorge National Recreation Trail - The sight and sound of the South Breitenbush River along with older Douglas-fir and Western Hemlock forest settings accompany the hiker along this historic scenic trail.A short side trip below the trail leads to the "Gorge," where the river passes through a 300 foot long basalt narrows. Watch for difficult footing between the main trail and the Gorge viewpoint.A picturesque log footbridge crosses Roaring Creek at a steep section of cascading water.

The South Breitenbush Gorge National Recreation Trail (#3366) is a 2.5 mile easy to moderate trail. The sight and sound of the South Breitenbush River accompany the hiker along this scenic trail. A short side trip below the trail leads to the "Gorge," where the river passes through a basalt narrows, 300 feet long and 3 to 10 feet wide. A picturesque wooden footbridge crosses Roaring Creek at a steep section of cascading water. The vegetation is old-growth Douglas-fir and western hemlock. There is difficult footing between the main trail and the Gorge viewpoint. Small children should be supervised around the Gorge. Trail closed to motorized travel year-round.
