North Umpqua Trail (Panther Segment) - The Panther Segment of the North Umpqua Trail starts at the Steamboat Work Center and follows the river to the site of the old fish hatchery. The trail then climbs above rocky cliff away from the river until it drops down to Road #4714. The trail is recommended for family use and provides some access to the North Umpqua River for fishing (fly angling only). Watch out for Poison Oak along the trail. The trail features spring wildflowers as well.
